ચમકતા તારલા

 પશ્ચિમથી પૂર્વમાં આવેલી પુસ્તક 'ચમકતા તારલા' વાંચતાજ મનોમન અત્યંત ખુશી અનુભવી. અમદાવાદથી આવતી ચમકતી ભેંટની સંગાથે તહેવાર માણવાની મજા જ અનેરી હતી. 'ચમકતા તારલા' ઈનામ વિજેતા વાર્તાઓનો એક ગુલદસતો છે.  આયોજક શ્રી અંબાલાલ એમ. ચૌહાણ રિટાયર્ડ આઈ. પી.એસ  અધિકારી છે. તેમને સાહિત્યમાં રસ રહ્યો છે, ઘણી પુસ્તકો લખી છે અને અંતરાષ્ટ્રીય કક્ષાએ ઈનામ/પ્રશંસા મેળવેલ છે.  તેમણે સાહિત્યિક આનંદરસ માણવાની મને તક આપી તે બદલ હું તેમની આભારી છું. I am also thankful to his granddaughter, Khanjana Chauhan, who helped him a lot. The efforts that she has put in is commendable.

સોળ વાર્તાઓથી ચમકતી આ પુસ્તક ગુજરાતની વિવિધ બોલી તેમજ અલગ અલગ કલમોની અનેરી વાર્તાઓ પ્રસ્તુત કરે છે. હુકમસિંહ જાડેજાની 'તરસ' અને  'રાત પાણી' વિવિધ બોલીએ શીખવાની લાલસા ઉત્પન્ન કરે છે. યશવંત ઠક્કરની 'એક કપ કોફી' ખરેખર એક કપ કોફી માણતા વંચાઈ જાય અને જીવન જીવવાનો દ્રષ્ટિકોણ આપતી જાય છે.  નયના મહેતાની 'ચોરટી' અદ્ભુત લાગણીઓ દર્શાવે છે. નીપુલ કારિયાની 'સ્મૃત-વિસ્મૃત' કઈ પણ નિર્ણય લેતા પહેલા તે વિષયની સંપૂર્ણ માહિતી મેળવવા પ્રેરે છે. સુષમા શેઠની ' કૂંચી આપો બાઇજી' નાદાન આશાની ભણવાની આશા પૂર્ણ કરે છે. ડૉ. રાધિકા ટિક્કુની 'ખોરડું' હૃદયમાં પુસ્તક પ્રેમનું ખોરડું રચી આપે છે. ડૉ. રમણ માધવની વાર્તાની શરૂઆત  જ જિજ્ઞાસા ઉત્પન્ન કરે તેવા પ્રશ્નથી થઈ છે. સુનીલ અમીનની  'સત્ ચિત્ આનંદ' આનંદ કરાવતી કટાક્ષિકા છે. ઈમરાન દલની 'શબ્બુ' તાળાબંધી દરમ્યાન ઉભી થયેલ સમસ્યા રજૂ કરે છે. મહેન્દ્રકુમાર જેસંગભાઇ વાળાની 'મેલો', મુખ્ય વ્યવસાય તરીકે 'મેલો' લઈ જઈ સંભળાવનાર પિતાની વ્યથા રજૂ કરે છે. રામજીભાઇ કડિયાની 'કોને કહું?' બા પ્રત્યે લાગણી વધારનાર છે. રમેશ ત્રિવેદીની 'દીકરાખ્યાન' અનેરી બોલીમાં રચવામાં આવી છે. નિર્ણાયક તથા સંપાદકની વાર્તાઓ- પ્રતિભા ઠક્કરની ' રાજાનું કુંડાળુ', મનહર ઓઝાની 'શ્વાનદેવનો જય' અને એકતા નીરવ દોશીની ' પુનરાગમન' સરળ ભાષામાં ઘણું કહી જાય છે.

શ્રી અંબાલાલ એમ. ચૌહાણ, સાથ આપનાર શ્રી જયંતિભાઈ મકવાણા અને પ્રિય ખંજના ચૌહાણ, નિર્ણાયક અને સંપાદક, અને ખાસ વિવિધ કલમનોથી અવનવી વાર્તા રચતા, સૌને આનંદ કરાવતા લેખક-લેખિકાઓની સર્જનાત્મકતાથી આ પુસ્તક હૈયામાં આનંદ પ્રસરાવે છે અને માહોલને ખરખેર ચમકતું કરે છે. 'ચમકતા તારલા' ચમ ચમ મનોમન ચમકે છે અને ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય પ્રત્યે પ્રેમ વધારે છે. ✨

Are we heading towards a "double V" shaped recovery?

Given the number of corona cases following an M shape, are we heading towards a "W" shaped recovery? The numbers rose and fell and are rising again. Given the spike in number of cases, few states are witnessing lockdowns or night curfews. The entire nation was under lockdown last year, thereby we witnessed a drastic negative growth in respective quarters, but as businesses tried to get into "new normal" we witnessed a recovery. We witnessed a downfall and an uprise, a V shape. Currently, entire nation isn't under lockdown. If nation goes into lockdown, then again it will witness a drastic fall in growth rate. If citizens work hard after the fall, then there shall be an uprise. Such roller coaster ride of downfall and uprise witnessed twice would lead to a "double V", that is, a "W" shape.

Such letter shaped recovery may look interesting, but the pain of downturns mustn't be forgotten. 'V' and 'W'  shape throws light on the fact that the lowest that hits hard must be used as a bounce back. 

If a long sustained period of lowest point is observed before an upturn, then we witness a 'U' shape. There are many more letter shaped recoveries. How artistically letters provide an insight!

Woah! Such are the times that brought into prominence an analytical meaning of the alphabets that we learnt as a kid. So what type of growth, our intellect is witnessing?

How fair is cardinal equality?

Let's talk about a student who studies hard to understand the essence of every subject. Let's consider another student who puts in high efforts towards cheating. Also, let's consider yet another student who behaves like a freerider in both cases. Student 1 secures top rank, Student 2 gets an average, Student 3 fails! Now, if student one is asked to share his score to uplift the ones below him, wouldn't it be an injustice to him? He worked hard to avail the best for himself. Yet, in another case, if he voluntarily shares answers with the ones who didn't prepare for the exams to help them score better, then the ones below him may remain dependent on his hard work. Given this scenario and relating it to the concept of equality in money terms, doesn't it seem that equality approach disincentivises hard workers.

Yet in another scenario, if person B scores the most and then the concept of equality is applied, then it would be fair enough to share a pie with the hard worker. In this case, approach of equality would be suitable but the system would be unsuitable as it allows the cheaters to top!

As always, "given the assumptions" and thinking upon the fairness of cardinal equality that is equality in money terms (say, income equality) how fair would it be to strive towards equality?

If at the end of the game, everyone gets an equal share, there would remain no incentive for hard workers to keep on working hard. The freeriders shall be incentivised to remain the same, eventually hard workers may feel shattered and economy may spiral downwards! Is it the inequality that sustains the economy and motivates people to keep on working hard or incentivises cheaters to keep on cheating? How could a balance be brought into the system? Who works hard and who cheats is never known! If everything gets equalised, wouldn't conspicuous consumption lose its shimmery glitter?

Thus, is the "concept of equality" striving to achieve a goal that would eventually collapse the system?💭

Think on.

Justice granted at earliest. ☑️

The best, most reliable judicial system exist. Each one of us have witnessed it and have been a part of it! In that system, justice is not delayed. Wrong-doer is immediately punished. But, it could grant justice only on a smaller scale. (Though, it has the power to prepare an individual to fight on a larger scale.)

A student scoring well, say above 95%, in higher secondary often scores just above 75% or is even happy by securing a first class in University. As one levels up, score degrades. So, in that respect, the most trusted, fastest, judicial system is school! But as level increases, one can't describe how well-trusted the system gets. One can't state whether it follows the same pattern like scores or a pattern much more severe than that! As level increases, the system gets well-equipped with tools and clever people, but, still, the most favoured judicial system  remains the basic one where honest one is immediately relieved.🙈

It's spelt as 'O' not zero!

Now it'll be "Two O Two One".

Immediately a kid exclaimed, "It's Two Zero Two One!" Kid added, "Don't you know numerals?" 

The person replied, "Dear, 'O' sounds cooler than zero." 

Kid said, "I thought you haven't done your schooling properly."

Person replied, " Dear, we learnt numerals thik se only, but in order to sound modern hum 'O' bolte hai not zero. "

Kid replied, "Oh, Now I understand, that must be the same reason why people simultaneously use multiple languages to express themselves. I thought people mistakenly innovate their own language due to lack of proper schooling!

Person's friend interrupted, "Dear, speaking 'O' is absolutely fine. It's included in dictionary too!"

Kid replied, "Oh! Fine. That's acceptable. But, what about expressing oneself in fused language? It may sound cooler to many but dumber to ones who are in their initial levels of schooling like me! In cooler words- After hearing fused language school mein jo properly sikhte hai uska fuse udd jata hai!"

Auspicious 2021

Finally, 2020 match comes to an end. We are looking forward to 2121. Oops! 21st Century's 21st year. Nope, 22nd year. But it's twenty first's 21- 2021. We know how auspicious 11,21,51,101 and such numerals are. So, should we hope for an auspicious 21? Huh! Hopes are what we live by. We hoped for an amazing match, we could hope for an auspicious 21. May the coming year be such where we don't think of minimizing losses but maximising profits as it's not a match anymore but an auspicious 21.

"Work through screen" times

During these work from home or rather "work through screen" times, my work cannot be done through screen!

Professionally, I am a doctor. I need to check my patients. For that, I must take precautions to ensure their safety. 

At the same time, I am a mother. I need to take care of my children. 

For safety of dear ones, should I trade off health of my patients?

No, I am a human. I must ensure that everyone around me stays in pink of health and high spirits. 

All of us are linked. This virus taught us how rapidly infectious disease spreads. So, as a doctor, as a mother, as a human, I must ensure that each one of us stays  fit.

The way one fish spoils the whole pond, one unhealthy person could infect many others.

I am balancing my personal and professional life to serve people around me. All I need in return is a bit of enhancement of humanity in people. Shower a bit of love, a bit of concern, a bit of care and please ensure a lot of precautions.

Stay precautious, Stay healthy.

'See-Will' war

We often get to see will wars. Parties on both sides uphold their own wills. In an attempt to promote peace, they hammer away to see will of counterparty and be civil, but an urge to justify their point of view makes them unsee will. By default, mind can't see the uncivil happenings!  Attempt of Peace Promotion ends up in Contemptful Piece Division.

Review of "Water and Star 🌊✨" by Heera Nawaz

 Thank You Heera Nawaz mam for this scintillating review of poem, "Water and Star 🌊✨"

Review:

First, coming to the structure of this poem, it follows loosely a rhyming structure with rhyming words like pride’ and stride’, eyes’ andrealize’, and sky’ and high’, etc. It is a simple poem by poetess Forum Shah where she doesn’t use bombastic high sounding words to express herself, but instead uses simple effective words which throws light on the meanings she wants to convey. The poetess has chosen a unique but important topic and that is of the star and water.

There is a strong meaning and lesson in this poem where the poetess is against the Star as the Star appears to be proud and not uplifting others. Arguing from this viewpoint, the Water wants all to understand that the star should be humble and not arrogant. The logic of the Water is that it wants the Star to be humble and see reason and in this way, open its eyes to realize the correct situation and scenario.

The poetess starts the poem with a conversation between Water and the Star. It avers that the Star is shining bright among all, like a super star in the night sky. Star proudly says that she will keep her distance from others, showing her supercilious attitude. Like the other stars, she will shine brightly, showing that she is arrogant and so full of herself.

At this point in time, Water interrupts saying that water is a “commoner” who does not keep distance, who shines and reflects the commoners and can slake the thirst of a commoner. Water intercepts here and says, “Can you do that?” Water then says it affects others including fame-thirsters (those crazy about fame).

The Star realizes what the Water wants to convey and opens its eyes and it realizes that it had been maintaining a distance from others because of pride. Indeed, she comes to her senses while thinking back as her struggling days initially when she was ordinary and had her own troubling times. Star really opens her eyes as she says, “Everyone is great!” implying that no one should be looked down upon.

Water is happy at the change in the outlook and attitude of Star. Water says cheerfully, `Now you are a real Star and you must uplift others instead of being supercilious and looking down on them disdainfully. Water concludes that it will continue reflecting Star because it is “the best among whom we knew.”

Indeed, this poem is a delightful one which can be understood easily. It has a great message not to be proud but to be grounded and humble. The poetess shows through Water how Star could see her own weak points and convert it into her strengths. We thank Forum Shah for this beautiful poem and hopes that she continues contributing her poems to Haven Furnace so that we can review them. Thank you.

SARFAESI Act

SARFAESI Act

Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act (SARFAESI Act) was enforced in 2002. The act was framed in order to address the problem of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). 

Securitisation- It is the process of conversion of existing laons into marketable securities by Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) through issue of security receipts (bonds).

Asset Reconstruction- It implies conversion of bad assets or NPAs into performing assets. A simple example- If a loan of RS 20lakh was issued for 5 years and a person is unable to pay then he may be asked to pay it within 10years of issue date i.e extension of 5 more years.

The ARCs can acquire financial assets(NPAs) from banks and try to recover dues through measures such as-

-Proper management of business of the borrower

-Sales or lease of a part of whole business

-Entering into settlements

Enforcement of Security Interest (ESI)- ARCs can seize the supported asset.

Thus, SARFAESI Act provides procedure for registration and regulation of ARC for securitization, asset reconstruction and enforcement of security interest.

However it is not applicable to

- Any security interest created in agricultural land.

- Any case in which amount due is less than 20% of principal amount and interest.

- Any security interest for security repayment of any financial assets less than one lakh rupees.

(Above exceptions makes one ponder!)

Scheduled Commercial Banks were included under this Act. Cooperative banks weren't. Since 2003, petitions were being filed. After 17years, in May 2020, a five judge constitutional bench of Supreme Court held that Cooperative Banks can use SARFAESI Act for recovery of debts from its defaulters. It further clarified that Cooperative Banks established under a state law or multi-state level societies fall within the ambit of the Act.

On a lighter note,

" ભાષા મારી ગુજરાતી છે "

"ભાષા મારી ગુજરાતી છે" 

આ કેટલી રસપ્રદ પંક્તિ છે. આ સાંભળ્યા બાદ જો ગુજરાતી ભાષા લખતા, વાંચતા ને સરસ થી બોલતા ન આવડે તો શું?

ભાષા શીખવી કંઈ અઘરી નથી. ગુજરાતી ભાષા શીખડાવવા માટેનો શ્રેષ્ઠ યોગદાન મારી માતાનો છે. ઘરમાં, "પૂર્વ ગુર્જરી", "હલચલ", "સાંવરી" મને વંચાવવા પ્રયત્ન કરતી. હિન્દી ભાષાની સરખામણી કરી હું પણ આપણી ભાષા શીખવા રજાના દિવસોમાં પ્રયત્ન કરતી.

"પૂર્વ ગુર્જરી" કોલમની નાની કવિતા વાંચતી અને આશ્ચર્યજનક ફોટા જોઈ તેના વિશે શું લખ્યું છે તે માહિતી મેળવવાની કોશિશ કરતી. ડો. શ્રી મયુર વ્યાસના પર્યટનના લેખ દર અઠવાડિયે વાંચી પર્યટન કર્યા જેવું અનુભવતી.

" હલચલ" થી ખરેખર મારા મનમાં હલચલ ઊભી થઈ. નાનપણમાં બર્થડેના ફોટા છપાતા. સ્કૂલમા થતી હરીફાઈના ફોટા અને તેની વિગતો તેમજ વધુ માર્કસ મેળવનાર વિદ્યાર્થીઓના નામ જાહેર થતાં. તેમાંથી એક નામ મારું છે કે નહિ તે શોધવાં પ્રયત્ન કરતી. અને તેમાં પ્રકાશિત થતું સુડોકુ તો કાયમ રમતી.

" સાંવરી " મા ફિલ્મી ક્વિઝ આવતી. ઘણાંને ઇનામો મળતા. તેથી હું પણ ક્વિઝ રમી ઈનામ મેળવતી. આમ કરતાં કરતાં ગુજરાતી ભાષા લખવા-વાંચવા માટેની અભિલાષા જાગી.

" શૂન્યથી શિખર સુધી" અને "મન હોય તો માળવે જવાય" આ રસપ્રદ કહેવતોનો શીલશીલો મારા મનમાં સળવળતો.

ત્યાંજ મને "સાહિત્ય ટાઈમ્સ" નાં સંસ્થાપક, શ્રી કેયુરભાઈ મજમુદાર, નો સાથ મલ્યો.  તેમણે ઘણાંજ બાળકોને, યુવાનોને, ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યમાં આગળ વધવા પ્રોત્સાહિત કર્યા. તેમણે પોતાનું યોગદાન દઈ નાટક, સ્કીટ, કાવ્ય પઠન, વકતૃત્વ સ્પર્ધા વગેરે યોજીને અમોને આગળ વધારવા પ્રયત્ન કર્યા. ટી.વી ચેનલ પર લાઈવ શો શરૂ કર્યા. તેમાં પણ anchoring કરવાની તક અમને આપી. એટલે ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય પ્રત્યે રસ વધતો ગયો. આમ જુઓ તો કેયુરભાઇ પાસે જ્ઞાનની પુંજી છે.

ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યનું ' પ્રથમ પગથિયું ' ચડાવનાર ડો. શ્રી કેયૂરભાઈ મજમુદાર મને કહેતા, " તું ઇંગ્લિશમા કવિતા લખે છે, ગુજરાતીમા પણ લખ. " તેમના આ શબ્દો મારા મનમાં ગુંજતા. એટલે મેં ધીમે ધીમે લખવાની શરૂઆત કરી.

ત્યાંતો "સાહિત્ય મંડળ" માં પણ નિબંધ સ્પર્ધા યોજાય છે તેની જાણ થઈ એટલે ગુજરાતી ભાષામાં નિબંધ લખવાની તક મળી. લખાણમાં મિક્સ અપ થયું, પણ લખતા અંતરથી ખુશી થઇ. "સાહિત્ય મંડળ" દ્વારા, કોલકાતામા, ગુજરાતના પ્રસિદ્ધ કવિઓ, લેખકો ને એમનાં જ મધુર કંઠે એમની રચનાઓ સાંભળવાનો અમને લ્હાવો મળતો.

શ્રી અજયભાઇ પડિયા એ બધીજ પળોને ફોટામા યાદગીરી સ્વરૂપે દાખીલ કર્યા. એમણે પણ અમોને ફોટા આપી વધું પ્રોત્સાહિત કર્યા.

આ રીતે ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય ને ઉચ્ચ સ્તરે વિકસાવવા માટે અમૂલ્ય ફાળો બીરદાવનાર શ્રી પરાગભાઇ મજમુદાર , ડો. શ્રી કેયૂરભાઇ મજમુદારને ખુબ ખુબ આભાર.

ડો. શ્રી મયુર વ્યાસ, શ્રી અજયભાઇ પડિયા, શ્રીમતી નલીનીબેન પારેખ, શ્રીમતી સુજાતાબેન દેસાઈ, શ્રી બકુલભાઈ મહેતા, શ્રી દિલીપભાઈ ગણાત્રા, શ્રી દર્શીનભાઈ ભારતીય, શ્રી ભાવેશભાઈ શેઠ, શ્રી કિરણભાઈ રાય વડેરા, શ્રી દિનેશભાઈ વડેરા, શ્રી જસ્મીનભાઈ રૂપાણી તેમજ સર્વ સાહિત્યરસિકોના આશીર્વાદથી સાહિત્ય રસપાન કરતી રહીશ. ગર્વથી ગાતી રહીશ, " ભાષા મારી ગુજરાતી છે. "

સાહિત્ય સર્જક સાથે સંવાદ

તાળાબંધીના અંતિમ દિવસે, "સાહિત્ય સર્જક સાથે સંવાદ" નો કાર્યક્રમ, V.T.V ચેનલ પર જોતા ઘણો જ ઉલ્લાસ થયો.

આપણી ભાષાની મીઠાશ માણતા જાણ્યું કે લેખકોના જ્ઞાનની સીમા નથી. હાલના લેખકો પહેલાના લેખકોનું સ્મરણ કરે, તેમનાથી તો હું અજ્ઞાત છું. હું હાલના લેખકોને સ્ક્રીન પર જોઉં છું એટલે મારા માટે એજ પ્રેરણાસ્ત્રોત છે.

સૌપ્રથમ તોરલબેને સાહિત્ય સર્જકો સાથે દર્શકોનો તાર જોડ્યો. ત્યારબાદ એક પછી એક લેખકના સુંદર અભિપ્રાય સાંભળતા ખુબજ ખુશી થઈ.

અશોકભાઈ ચાવડા- એમનાથી પ્રેરણા મળી સ્વથી સર્વ સુધી જવાની. એમણે પન્નાલાલ પટેલ, ઉમાશંકર જોશી, મરીઝ ને કેટલાય લેખકોની પંક્તિઓ રજૂ કરી દષ્ટાંત આપ્યા. એમણે જણાવ્યું કે સર્જક કર્મનું ક્રમ બદલવાની જરૂર છે. એમના સંવાદનું મનોમંથન તો મનમાં હજુ પણ ચાલે છે.

શૈલેન્દ્રભાઈ વાઘેલા- ફાફડા અને ચટણી તેમજ છાપુ અને લેખક! જેમ ચટણીના સ્વાદથી ફાફડાનો સ્વાદ વધે, તેમજ સારા લેખકથી છાપાનું મૂલ્ય વધે. તેમણે જણાવ્યું કે હવે તો ઓનલાઈનમાં કેટલાંય કાવ્ય મુશાયરા યોજાય છે, તેથી આ ક્ષેત્રે પણ ઘણું પરિવર્તન થઈ રહ્યું છે. તાળાબંધી પહેલા તો એક કાવ્ય મુશાયરા યોજવવા કેટલીયે તૈયારી અને રૂપિયાની બોલબાલા થતી. કટાર લેખકનાં સંવાદોથી ભૂતથી વર્તમાનની લટાર સર્જાઈ.

વિનયભાઈ ગોસાઈ - ખરેખર સોફ્ટ કોપીનો પ્રવાહ આ તાળાબંધીના સમયે વધી ગયો. એમણે ધ્યાન દોર્યું કે હવે આપણે લેખનથી વોઈસ ટાઈપિંગ તરફ જઈ રહ્યા છીએ. હવે તો ટેકનોલોજીના લીધે પુસ્તક લેખકો સ્વયં પુસ્તકને 'રેડી ટૂ પબ્લિશ' કરી શકે છે.

રક્ષાબેન શુક્લ - એમણે જણાવ્યું કે પરિવર્તન તો જીવનનો નિયમ છે અને લૉકડાઉનની કવિતા રજૂ કરી, તે પણ ઘણી રસપ્રદ હતી.

એશાબેન દાદાવાલા- એમણે કહ્યું કે લેખકે પોતાની કલાકૃતિ વાંચકો સુધી પહોંચાડવા પ્રયત્નો કરવા પડશે અને જેમ માસ્ક ફેન્સી મળવા લાગ્યા છે તેમજ સાહિત્યમાં પણ લખાણમાં ફેરફાર થવા લાગ્યા છે.

હરદ્વારભાઈ ગોસ્વામી -  એમણે જણાવ્યું કે સાહિત્ય સર્જકોનો જવાબ એક હોય શકે પણ તેમની અભિવ્યક્તિ જુદી હોય છે. તેમના મુક્તક હૃદયસ્પર્શી હતા.

Will 20lakh crore bandage heal the economy?

No matter how expensive the healing bandage costs, unless the mindset heals, the expense doesn't turn fruitful. Policy makers are trying their best to revive the economy but alertness of beneficiaries decides the success of any policy! Money is infused and channelised to boost the economy. People say that they are running out of money. Where is the money fuming? To other country? In lockers? Or, in gold? Or, somewhere else? Money cycle is continuous. If someone loses, someone gains.
While applying this 20lakh crore bandage, if borrowed money is diverted for productive activities then it could be easily returned with interest. But, if money is to be printed, then consequences have to be faced! Owing to present situation, everyone is trying their best to survive. Yes! to survive only. Nobody is thinking of luxury now. That means savings for survival, consumption of essentials for survival has increased. Hence, portion of the package is clearly getting utilised for consumption purpose. More the investments, the virtuous the economy gets. But, healthier the people, healthier the demography gets. The amount released for productive purposes is the amount that will help in boosting the economy at 'quantam' pace. The amount for survival purpose shall contribute towards health of population that will help in boosting the economy. So, there are two facets, Health and Wealth, that is, Savings and Investments.
Released money faces multiplier effect. Currently, velocity of money will be less. It will take time to heal. Rs 1.74lakh crore relief package under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana for the economically weaker section is either piled up at bank or used/saved for survival. Additionally, free food is provided. All farmers, migrants, labourers are taken care of in paper. Hope, all are benefitted too. Government also announced Emergency Health Response Package. Under these packages, economy might not get healthy but that amount is for healthyfying the workers of economy. After all, health is wealth. No huge multiplier cycle is to be expected here. This is just a healthy virtuous cycle if beneficiaries are actually benefitted.
Other area where this bandage is applied is corporate sector. Refunds against pending income tax refunds of upto Rs 5lakh will just build up a portion of wealth. Productivity is necessary for reviving the economy. So, MSMEs have been benefitted through Funds of Funds, subordinate debt and collateral free automatic loans. Now, we have to keep a watch on them. If the amount granted is well utilised and turnover is multiplied, then it will turn into boon. But, the virus has to perish, safe environment is needed for people to work.
Next, liquidity relief through Employee Provident Fund plus reduced EPF contribution is aimed at benefitting firms. But, Alas! Most firms are unaware while few need to learn to claim the benefit.
NBFCs and Power Distribution companies too gain support. Also, RBI slashed CRR. Special Refinance Facility and Long Term Repo Operation are the other measures taken by RBI. But, they need to be utilised by banks.
The list of beneficiaries is huge, so is the list of survivors! Cost of living is rising. Price of essential food items is going up. Will that relief amount help in covering rising costs?It is just a 'relief' amount!
We consume, we produce. We are the survivors, we are the workers. Until and unless, we use the released amount to boost the economy, it will get difficult to recover. Though, not directly, but all will be benefitted through ripple effect. As money flows and starts exchanging hands slowly and steadily, the economy will recover. But, for boom to occur, money must exchange hands rapidly like it used too. We need to build our immunity and invest in productive activities to build self-reliant economy's immunity.
Hence, the bandage turns effective if we turn active and learn its proper application!

Lockdown-Economy-Life-Livelihood

Being an Economics Graduate, the most common question I receive is, "Is, actually, lockdown gonna hit the economy really hard? How can we overcome? Like, in this current scenario, how will the world adjust between life and livelihood?"

I tried to answer that in article below-

People run the economy, Money makes people work. It's not a world where everyone would provide selfless service. We need to pay to get something. We need to work to earn the payment we need to make. So, the trip, a monetary value makes, plays a vital role. Under current scenario, velocity of money has slowed down. Only a few sectors are running, rest aren't able to earn income. Individuals are willing to save for their livelihood. More the savings, less the investment. The rate at which money exchanged hands has fallen. So, productive activities don't get the required boost. Most people aren't earning so they don't spend lavishly. So, the GDP number falls. For many it might be just a number but it reflects the slowdown. Economy faces a hard hit from two sides- (1) the number of workers (population) is declining, (2) people aren't willing to spend. If there are less people, it doesn't only mean less burden but also less helping hands. Economy runs by cooperation received from every sector. Secondly, most aren't earning. As their wealth declines, their livelihood faces danger. Initially, people might help. But, for how long? So, another scenario emerges where part of population is becoming slave! The ones who would have enough will try to use such people who seek livelihood during difficult times. All this is happening because money runs livelihood! 

More the individuals get affected, more pressure is created on economy at global level. The people who are dying, both skilled and unskilled played an important part in running the economy. The world doesn't stop by someone's absence, but definitely it could be made a better place by utilising someone's presence! So, economy, livelihood, welfare, health faces a hard hit.

This virus won't go in blink of eye. It will stay with us and we have to work keeping that in mind. It's not easy to overcome. If we think to make the world go digital, we must know that all services couldn't go digital. So, people who need to step out have to take a risk of their life and take necessary precautions. Everyone who has arrived has to go but that doesn't mean 'purposely risking lives'. So, the ones who could do their part staying at home should do and avoid crowding places.  There are people who still think that lockdown isn't meant for their good! We live in a world where everyone (including us) won't understand everything. So, any day when this lockdown has to be lifted up, crowd will be seen on streets and all the efforts made during this period would go useless. So, it's difficult to overcome as everyone doesn't understand. People must voluntarily follow the rules to break the chain. Unless, everyone cooperates, it will be difficult to overcome. We have to live with the mentality that the virus could be anywhere around us! A balance between life and livelihood has to be created voluntarily.

Policy makers do provide the relief tools, but we must help ourselves too.The government may provide subsidized credit, but unless we utilize it properly it would go in vain. Well-targeted instruments would be needed to lift up the economy. In a country where people don't have money to eat, money for treatment but are rich enough to buy liquor at high price, how sharply the targeted instruments could be targeted?

Nevertheless, we must voluntarily follow the rules to avoid counteraction with this invisible creature till the time science and technology doesn't gift us a remedy. But, probably, this gift may require money boost too! Amidst the slowdown, the ones who are working selflessly (or charging meagre amount just for their livelihood) for the welfare of humanity are the ones whom we should be really thankful to. We need such people for a fast recovery! But, they are rare.

હાજરી ને ગેરહાજરી

પરિસ્થિતિ ગંભીર બની ચૂકી છે. જીવ ને જોખમ ડાબે જમણે છે - રોગની હાજરીથી અને આજીવિકા ની ગેરહાજરી થી! આજીવિકા મેળવવા જો અમુક દુકાનો ને છૂટ આપે, તોય એ જોખમી. અને ના આપે તોય જોખમ. તો આવી સ્થિતિ માં કરવું શું?

અર્થતંત્ર ને પાછું શરૂ કરતા પહેલા, સહુ vaccinated હોય તો ખતરો ઓછો રહે. પણ હજી vaccine તો આવી નથી. આવી પરિસ્થિતિ માં અર્થતંત્ર ને શરૂ કરવું હોય તો સહુ એ પોતાને શીલ્ડ કરી નીકળવું એ અનિવાર્ય કરાય. ફક્ત માસ્ક અને gloves પહેરી નીકળી પડે તો આફત આવેજ. પણ પોતાને પ્લાસ્ટિક, રેનકોટ, અથવા કીટ થી કવર કરી નીકળે તો જોખમ ઘટે.

રોગ ના સાચા રિપોર્ટ મળતા નથી. સોશ્યલ મીડિયા માં viral થયેલા વિડિયો થી અને આસ પાસ જોતા એવું લાગે કે કોરોના કેસ ની પૂરી જાણકારી જાહેર થતી નથી. ઘણા લોકો કોરોના મહાકાલ માં જુદા કારણ એ દમ તોડે છે પણ એમના લક્ષણ કોરોના ના જ હોય છે!

હજુ પબ્લિક ટ્રાન્સપોર્ટ શરૂ થશે તો શહેરો માં બસ, મેટ્રો, ટ્રેન વગેરે માં અંતર કેવી રીતે જળવાશે? ભીડ ભરેલ શહેર માં તો કોરોના નો કોહરામ મચતોજ રહેશે. ઘર ની બહાર નીકળ્યા વગર પણ છૂટકો નથી.

 જ્યાં સુધી vaccine ન આવે ત્યાં સુધી જો નીકળવું પડે તો સાવચેતી પૂરી રાખવી પડે! વિશ્વ નું હર માનવ vaccinated થાય ત્યારેજ આ જોખમ ને વટલાવી શકાય. જ્યાં સુધી vaccine ની ગેરહાજરી છે, ત્યાં સુધી કોરોના ની હાજરી ને વટલાવું સહેલું નથી.
